Julia Caroline Knowlton is Professor of French at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, where she directs the French Program and has taught for 22 years.  She holds a BA in English and French Literature from Duke and MA and PhD degrees in French Literature from UNC Chapel Hill.  The recipient of an Academy of American Poets College Prize and a Pushcart nominee, her poetry has appeared in several journals, including _Ghost City Review_, _Icarus Anthology_, _Piedmont Journal of Poetry and Fiction_, and _These Fragile Lilacs_. She is also the author of the 2004 memoir _Body Story_ (Ohio U. Press, 2004), which was named outstanding title in its category by the American Library Association.  She is currently pursuing her MFA in poetry at Antioch University in Los Angeles, where she has been granted a creative writing fellowship.
